Gillam Graduating Exercises.

Gillam Township's graduating exercises were held last Saturday evening, at Independence chapel. The graduates were five in number, their names and subjects of orations being, as follows: Lucy Daughetee “Education is Growth.” Simeon Marion ‘‘Good advice from one who knows.” Charlie Smith “The advantages of Hawaian annexation.” Alfred Robinson, “How some men have succeeded,” Rosa Cogswell, “Necessity of self reliance.”. The program was quite an extended one, the orations being interspersed with declamations,songs and band music by the Gillam band. County Superintendent Hamilton presented the diplomas. About fifty rolls of honor were distributed to the pupils of the township and also eight silver stars, t he last being taken by Roy Robinson. Effie Bisher, Guy Faris, Lucy Swisher, Jessie Parker, Hazel Parker, Zora Tillett and Ray Phillips.
