The Board of Review.

Now Organized And Heady To Equalize Assessments. The County Board of Review held its first meeting Monday afternoon. The board, which corresponds to the board of equalization of other days, is composed of County Assessor John R Philips, County Auditor Henry B. Murray, and County Treasurer Jesse C. Gwin, all of whom are members, ex-officio, or by right of office. Besides these, there are two other members, free holders and taxpayers of the county, who are appointed each year by the judge of the circuit court. This year the appointive members are the same as last year, J. E. Hollett, of Remington, and E. T. Biggs, of Wheatfield. The board is permitted to remain in session not to exceed 20 days. Persons who have complaints to make regarding the assessments of their property should take note of the fact that the board is now in session, and should make haste to file their complaints. Especially as there is danger, if they put off the matter too long, of so many complaints coming in towards the last days, that all can not be properly considered. The only complaint on file when the board met was one from Frederic R. Otis, of Chicago, who asks that the assessment of a large barn in Keener Tp., be reduced from $3,000 to $1,272. Mr. Otis will be called before the board personally, before his request is acted upon.
