Senate Committee Decides It Is Not Necessary to Inquire Into Wreck of Maine. 11 i Washington, June C. Senator Chandler, from the committee on naval affairs, made a report to the senate on the resolution passed on February 21 last, directing an investigation into the destruction of the battleship Maine. The committee say (hat, in view of the careful inquiry by the naval court and that which was later made by the senate committee on foreign relations, they deem an investigation by the naval committee unnecessary and have therefore made none.
