Washington, May 6.—Just before adournment Thursday the senate passed an important war measure authorizing the president and general officers of the army, to supply the Cuban insurgents with arms and munitions of war, and empowering officers of the army serving in Cuba to supply needy inhabitants of the Island with medicines and subsistence! During almost the entire session the senate had under consideration the post office appropriation bill. The measure carries 859,i«4..w0, being very much thtf heaviest of al. me appropriation bills.
