Judge Thompson's 60th Birthday.

Judge S. P. Thompson was 60 years old, last Saturday, and a small but notable party was given in honor of the occasion by Mrs. Thompson. The special guests of honor were the surviving members of the Calliopean Literary Society, an organization that existed here, before the war, and of which the Judge was a member. Those* of the society present were Judge E. P. Hammond, of Lafayette, John Thompson, M. L. Spitler, and R. S. Dwiggins of Rensselaer. Another old time literary society represented at the party was the Sorosis, a ladies’ society, Mrs. M. E. Thompson, Mrs. A. Purcupile and Mrs. Dwiggins being the surviving members present. The members of the Rensselaer bar also called and paid their respects to the Judge during the evening, as did also the military companies and bands which were a part of the Dewey victory parade, of that evening.
