County Board of Education.
The County Board of Education held their regular annual May meeting, Monday, in the county superintendent’s room, in the court house. All the members of the board were present except the trustee of Milroy township and the representatives of the school boards of Rensselaer and Remington. They decided to send out handsome souvenir graduating programs instead of the usual rolls of honor. Programs will also be furnished for all the graduating exercises. The trustees unanimously decided to continue the custom of paying tuition for graduates who wish to take high school studies in town high schools. Those who, during the past year, have had their teachers give instruction in high school branches have found that those studies take too much time from the common branches. The times and places for township graduation exercises were fixed ns follows: Gillam Township, June 18th at Independence chapel. Newton Tp., June 4th, at Saylerville school house. Barkley and Hanging Grove, June lltb, at Valma. Wheatfield Tp., and Wheatfield town, Kankakee, Keener and Walker, at Wheatfield, June 22nd. Carpenter, Marion and Jordan, at Remington, June 2nd. Union, June 25th at Rosebud church.
