Commodore Dewey Has Annihilated The Spanish Fleet. The First Keal battle of the War, a Signal Victory For Us. Commodore Dewey met and utterly overwhelmed the Spanish fleet at the Phillipine Islands, Sunday. The full extent of the victory is not yet learned, as all reports come through Spanish sources They admit however the loss of 2 cruisers, 3 gunboats, 4 smaller vessels and several hundred men.
