Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 66, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 26 April 1898 — The Black Diamond Road. [ARTICLE]

The Black Diamond Road.

The “Black Diamond” railroad originally projected to run from Savannah, Ga., to Chicago, 111., is now surveyed all the way of its route in this state from the Ohio river to Indianapolis, which at present seems to be the stopping point. It is also stated that the right-of-way is secured nearly the whole distance. It looks like the road would be built, and if so it will not be likely to stop at Indianapolis but bs continued on to Chicago, as originally contemplated. This original proposed route passed through Jasper county, in a general northwest and southeast direction.
