WAR REVENUE BILL.
Is Reported to House—Provides for Rond Issue of fd00,000,000. Washington, April 25. The republican members of the ways and means committee agreed upon a war revenue bill, and Chairman Dingley Introduced It Saturday afternoon before adjournment. A 1500,000,000 loan Is provided In the form of three per cent, bonds to run not less than
ten year* wrjyiore than 20 at thapleasur* of the government. One hundred million dollar certificates of lndeb<Ad«,csß to, bear three per cent. Interest are also provided for. Chairman Dingley’* Statement. Chairman Dingley made the following statement regarding the revenue to be raised from the bill. The statement says: “The wajte and means committee estimate the Increased revenue that would be derived from the war measure proposed would be $90,000,000 to $100,000,000, distributed as follows: “Fermented liquors, $35,060,000; tobacco, 815,000,000; cigars;’ss,(ftO.OOT’; dealers In tobacco and cigars, $5,000,000; stamp taxes on documents, telegrams, etc.,530,000,000; stamp tax on wines, mineral waters, etc., undetermined. Tonnage tax on vessels engaged In foreign trade, $2,000,000. “Tea and coffee are not touched, as all the measures proposed for war revenue are Internal revenue taxes.”
