Patriotic Services Sunday.
The services in the Christian church Sunday morning were of a patriotic character, the G. A. R. Post being present in a body, and the church was crowded with an attentive audience, to hear the pastor Elder N. H. Shepherd, in an eloquent and instructive sermon, abounding in allusions to the bravery and patriotism of our soldiers during the late war. The evening sermon was also largely attended, the subject being Cuba and impending conflict. The speaker taking the position that our Government was not making a war of conquest with Spain, but was prompted by the most unselfish motives: that of rendering assistance to the victims of years of oppression and inhuman treatment, by the Spanish government.
