[George Parsons Lathrop was bom )n Honolulu August 25, 1851, and received ms education In New York City and in Dresden. Germany, where he remained from 1861 to 1870. After his return he attended Columbia college law school for one term, tyi then adopted a literary life and agwn went abroad. In 1871 he married, In Liz don, Rose, second daughter of Nathaniel Hawthorne. From 1875 to 1877 he was ststant editor of the Atlantic Monthly. In 1888 he removed to New York, and lu tiiat year founded the American Copyright league.)
