The Wallace Nichols Children.
The trustee of Prairie township, White Co., in which Brookston is situated was here Wednesday, conferring with J. L. Nichols and others, regarding the desposition to be made for the orphan children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Nichols. Mrs. Nichols relatives live in or near Brookston. Her mother, who is 80 years old, wants to take all the children, but besides being old and feeble, she has no financial means to support them. Mrs. Nichols’ brothers and sisters all have large families of tljeir own and do not feel situated to give homes to the orphans. One sister is unmarried, but earns her living by-sewing. Mr. Nichols’ relatives live in this county. His brother Jesse Nichols offers to give one of the children a good home. His father, J. L. Nichols is also willing to take one; and A. L. Burton, just north of town offers a home to still another. Thus three of the four children are already provided for, if it is decided to bring them to this county which seems the best thing to do. Although in the case of J. L. Nichols, the children’s grandfather, he would probably prefer that some younger people, would take the one he he offers to take, if a suitable place can be found. There are four of the children, a girl of about 10, a boy of about 7, another boy of about 4or 5, and a girl of 2. All are bright likely children and probably no difficulty would be experienced in finding good homes for them all in this vicinity
