Battle on the Nile.

Cairo, April 9. Anglo Egyptian forces, under Sir Herbert Kichener, attacked the dervishes near Atbara Friday morning and rushed Mahomed’s zariba, the center of his fortifications, without check. The attack was entirely successful, and the dervishes lost very heavily. It is said that 2,000 were killed and hundreds wounded. Mahomed, the dervish general, was among the prisoners captured.
