Damage by Prairie Fires.

Huron, S. D., April 9.—Destructive prairie fires swept over the southwestern portion of Beadle and eastern part of Hand county Thursday. Losses will aggregate from SIO,OOO to $15,000. Some farmers lost their homes, buildings, machinery and stock. The town of Wessington, 30 miles west of this place, had a close call. The burned district covers many miles and the distress would have been much greater except for rain, which began falling at sundown. Much live stock was burned and many people had narrow escapes.
