Pingree's Bill Fails to Pass.

Lansing, Mich., April 9.—Gov. Pingree’s bill for increasing the taxes upon railroads had failed to pass the senate by two votes. The vote, taken at six o’clock Friday evening, resulted: Yens. 15; nays, 1(6- One senator was absebtand he is known to have been against Ihe bilj. Friday was the eighteenth day of the special session called by the governor for the express purpose of passing this measure. It had passed the house by an almost unanimous vote.
