The Circuit Court.

The business of the term was practically closed, Friday evening. The last case tried was that of Gaynor & Kohler vs. Sheldon Cronk. They sued to set aside an alleged fraudulent conveyance of land, and the reopening of a judgment obtained in Porter County. The court decided that the deed was only a mortgage given to secure a debt, and gave judgment against Cronk for $718.34, and costs. It is stated that Cronk will appeal to the Appellate court. Gaynor & Kohler are Chicago parties, and Cronk seems to belong wherever his hat is off. All the tax ferret cases were continued to the June term. The case of D. H. Yeoman against tbe Monon, for the value of horses killed on the track was venued to White county. The case of Thos. Florence against S. B. Moffett, where plaintiff obtained a judgment for ยง9O is taken to the Appellate court. The case of Emma Appleby against the Monon was also venued to White county. Miss Appleby is a sister of Rev. M. H. Appleby, of Hammond. She is related to Mrs. C. G. Spitler, and after a visit to the latter was going home last summer and was badly injured in a wreck near Cedar Lake, caused by the derailing of the tender, we believe. Her injuries were internal and said to have been so severe that she has been an invalid ever since, and in fact, at the present time is reported to be near death from their effects. The suit was for SIO,OOO damages.
