Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 61, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 5 April 1898 — William Mossler’s Funeral [ARTICLE]
William Mossler’s Funeral.
William Mossler’s remains were taken on the 1:55 p. m. train today, to Cincinnati where they will be buried by the side of his mother and a sister. Today at noon, after a brief Jewish religious ceremony, Rensselaer Lodge Knights of Pythias conducted funeral rites of the order, then escorted the remains to the train. At Cincinnati Tuesday more extensive services will be held. Religious service will be conducted by a Jewish Rabbi, and burial rites by the Masonic order. The procession this afternoon was very imposing. It was preceded by the band playing a funeral march. The Knights of Pythias followed, then a Masonic escort, then the bearers of the floral offerings, the hearse, with pall bearers accompanying, and last the mourners and friends in carriages. The pall bearers were J. E. Wilson, B. F. Fendig, Isaac Tuteur, J. J. Hunt, G. E. Murray, Simon Fendig.
