Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 60, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 1 April 1898 — Ready For War, [ARTICLE]
Ready For War,
News! News!! News!!! That is what the people want in these exciting times and in the news campaign The Republican has enlisted for the war. We have, at great expense, made arrangements to double'and much more than double our supply of the latest general news, and for the time at least, will reduce the supply of general miscellaneous matter in the paper to a minimum to make room for news. Hereafter, beginning with next Tuesday, the Tuesday’s edition of the SemLWeekly will also consist of eight pages, and the four additional pages will be crammed jammed full of the latest, best and most reliable war and other general news, with a special emphasis on the w T ar. Our country readers are therefore advised to get their Tuesday’s papers out of their post-offices promptly. In neighborhoods remote from the postoffice, neighbors can club together and take turns in going after their papers. The Friday’s issue will also have much more general late news than heretofore. Without desiring to be unduly boastful, we can truly say that already many people of good judgment say The Republican is the best county paper they ever saw. After this week it will be still better. We hope our subscribers will show their appreciation in the very practical way, of speaking a,good word for the paper when opportunity offers and inducing their neighbors to become subscribers also.
