Secretary Owen Has Been To Mexico.

William D. Owen, Secretary of State, who returned to Indianapolis from a four weeks’ visit to Mexico Tuesday, says the newspapers and people of that country are greatly interested over the prospect of war between the United States and Spain. “The people of Mexico would like to see the United States whip Spain, said he. “The sympathy is all with the United States. The war talk has already tended to bring the people of the United States and Mexico into closer relations. The drift has been toward England and Germany, because the’ English and Germans have been quick to invest their capital in Mexico. Americans have been slow about making" investments, but within the last few years many Americans have engaged in busi-

ness in Mexico.” Mr. Owen is largely interested in coffeegrowing, and went down to inspect his possessions.
