Obituary of Jacob Bierly.

Jacob Bierly was born May Bth 1825. Died at his home at Surrey, Ind., March, 10th 1898, aged 72 years 10 months aud 2 days. He was married to Miss Mary A. Groom Sept. 25th, 1870. To them were born nine children, seven of whom are living; two having died in infancy. Those living are William, Milton and Miss Rena Bierly; Mrs. Etta Clemmens, Mrs. Minnie Sayers, Mrs. Lucy Smithe, and Mrs. Nellie Freeland. . Mrs. Bierly died ten years ago Feb. 28th, since which time the deceased has lived with his children on his farm near -Surrey. When the Nation’s flag was fired upon he heeded his country’s call and enlisted in the 48th Ind. regiment. Funeral services were held at the residence by Rev. D. A. Tucker at 10 o’clock, March 11th. After which the remains were laid to rest in Weston cemetery. Thus another old pioneer has gone, lie having been a resident of Jasper Co., for over 50 years.
