McCOYSBURG.

Lan McDonald and wife, Mr. Carpenter and wife, of Monticello, visited friends and relatives here and at Pleasant Ridge over Saturday and Sunday. Chas. McDonald, south of here, is Blowly improving from his recent serious illness, but the dootor says he ought not to go out for at least one year. Fish are coming up in great numbers in the state ditch, one of the boys caught 10 the other day, weighing about 4£ lbs. each. Bennie Ward, son of Jno. Ward, met with a very severe accident last Tuesday. His father and mother went to town and left him and an older brother at home and tho boys filled an iuk bottle with powder, laid it in a stump and put a lighted match to it causing it to explode when Bennie’s face was just over it. He is suffering very much and lias been unable to see since it occurred, and it is feared he will lose one eye and perhaps both. Checkers is the principle game of the day, now. Gwin & Phillips have it “Nip and Tuck.” Born, to Mr. 1 lift and wife, a daughter, last Tuesday. Barney Iliff got his hair cut the other night, which is good evidence of tho rumor afloat that his girl is coming up from Monon next Sun. day. I have private funds to loan on real estate at low rates for nny length of time.
