The Daily Newsfakers.

Here are a few of the ixumy monstrous lies that the daily papers have published within the last few days: That the Montgomery was also blown up in Havana harbor. That Spain had given Cuba her freedom- (A special fake of the Chicago Trihune, the father of all liars.) That Spain had $60,000,000 war money deposited in England. That the nations of Europe had warned Spain that she would get no help from them. That crazy Bill, the German emperor after he had picked his teeth with his sword, banged his weapon down on the table and swore by the manes of his grandfather that he w ould rip up the whole Yankee nation before they should take Cuba. The story that we had bought six war ships in Europe. The story that England hnd refused to allow ships to be sold to us. That England had offered us the use of her fleet. Thnt Germany was “our friend.” (Silliest lie of all.) That the Alaska boundary disputeswas settled. And so on without limit. The sensationalism and unreliability of our qjetropolitan papers has become a national disgraoe.
