GREEKS GIVE THANKS.
Rejoice in King George’s Escape from Assassination. The escape of King Georgo of Greece from assassination lias aroused a great patriotic outburst all over the country. Thanksgiving services were hold everywhere. The King’s courage and coolness In protecting his daughter is praised on every hand. The press is unanimous In condemnation of tho outrage. A solemn Te Deum was celebrated in the cathedral,
to give thaiiiks for the King’s escape.. The metropolitan officiated and the ceremony wns very impressive. The church was crowded with high state, military, and naval officers, members of the municipal government, and well-known residents of the city. All members of the royal family in Athens were present. . The police are scouring the country for the two men who attempted to kill his majesty. There has been a revulsion of feeling in favor of the King, who has been deeply unpopular since the war with Turkey. Telegrams have been received from everywhere In tho provinces expressing unfeigned indignation nt the attack on the King. His majesty declines to believe that the crime was of Greek origin. No Greek, he says, would lift a hand against him, and if a conspiracy existed it hnd its origin abroad.
