Hughes Goes Free.

Hezekiah Hughes, superintendent of the Ripley county poor farm, and evidently a prominent and much respected citizen, has j ust been tried before Justice Craig, at Cross Plains, for alleged participation in the lynching of the Levi gang, at Versailles, last September. Tuesday morning the justice decided Hughes not guilty, and he was discharged. Gov. Mount signed the affidavit against Hughes and State Attorney General Ketcham prosecuted him. It is seated that Squire Craig’s decision is very favorably received in Versaillesand Osgood.
