Bad weather for Wheatfield hay pressing. H. Marble has shipped 500 cars of hay this winter, so far, and still shipping as fast as the weather will permit, - . • - - I . • L. P. Shirer is very sick at this writing. Harry Lightcap has started his hay carler again, hope he will have good luck this time. Major, watch the wood piles, they are getting low. SURPRISE PARTY. Friday afternoon last a party of about 15 of our most estimable ladies perpetrated a surprise on Mrs. Ocker, it being her 68th birthday anniversary. While she was away from home visiting a sick neighbor the ladies came and took possession of the house. The surprise was a complete success. When she returned to find the house full of neighbors and friends. The party were provided with baskets well filled with edibles, and after some time spent in good natured female oliatter and gossip the table was set for tea and fairly groanpd under its load of good things. After a most enjoyable meal, all retired to their respective homes, haying had a thoroughly good time, and wishing Grandma many happy returns of the day. A most beautiful water set was presented as a Souvenir of the day. Mrs. Lidtkti is slowly recovering from her severe sickness. Mrs. A. Barlow is. improving. Simon Fendig was the only K. of P. to attend the Hammond District meeting. He reports a good time by everybody.
