When the Empress Drives Out.
When her majesty the Empress of Japan drives out no oue is permitted to look at her from the windows of chinks In tlie dqors or any part of the house, but rnus't, sit down by the side of the street through-wbieli she passes. Each person must doff lint or cap as she liasses, except the women in European dress, whose heads may remain covered.
