Death of Mrs. N. V. Snodgrass.
Mrs; Mary J. Snodgrass, wife of Newton V. Snodgrass, died Monday, Feb. 14th, at the home of her sons, George and Milo Snodgrass, in Porter county, near Kouts. Her ago was 66 years, 10 months and 11 days. Her maiden name was Judkins and she married N. V. Snodgrass, Oct. 28,1849, in Howard Co., Ind. Ten children were born, all of whom are living. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren They lived in Jordan Tp., this county for many years, and finally lived for a time in Rensselaer. Later they moved to Hammond, for some years, and a few years ago moved back into the northern part of Jasper county. Ou the day of her death she and her husband drove over to their sons’ place, near Kouts, expected to make their home with them. She appeared not to have suffered any bad effects from her trip, and retired that night in seemingly usual health. But at 11 o’clock she became sick and in a very short time expired. The funeral was held at Kouts, Wednesday, and interment made in Weston cemetery. She united with the M. E. church when 16 years old, and had a membership at Hammond when she died. —‘
