A Waterworks Test.

A detachment of the tiro company ran out a hose cart Thursday morning and made the first trial of the waterworks. The trial was not intended as a test of the capacity of the works but merely to see if water was ready to tlow from the hydrants, and if the hose fit all right &e. The pressure used was only 45 to 50 pounds, and the stream thrown wus as large and forcible as could be expected from that pressure. The trial showed that even now, before the water tower is up, and with only the regular low fireH under the pump bbilois, that we are in good shape to douse any ordinary fire, while by stirring up the fires a very much greater pressure can be secured at any time, in a few minutes.
