Battle Ship Maine Destroyed.
Wednesday’s Dally. Some of the latest editions of the Chicago papers this morning contained a few words of a rumor that the U. S. battle ship Maine had been blown up and sunk, in Havana harbor, lust night. The Indianapolis Journal, which is printed a little liter, contains fuller advices, and which leave no doubt of the vessel’s destruction. The nature of tlje explosion, whether of a boiler or magazine in the ship or of a torpedo outside, is not known. A Spanish war ship near by was giving every aid possible to the officers and crew. A dispatch was received at Washington from the captain who says that many were wounded and doubtless many killed.
