Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 46, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 11 February 1898 — New State Chairman. [ARTICLE]

New State Chairman.

Charles S. Hernley, of New Castle, was elected chairman of the Republican state central committee at Indianapolis, yesterday. He was elected by acclamation, the other candidate having withdrawn in his favor. Samuel H. Spooner, of Indianapolis, was elected secretary. The tenth district was represented at the meeting by David H. Flynn, of Lafayette, who held the proxy of the regular committeeman, T. J. McCoy, of our city, who is sick. Mr. Hernley, the new chairman, is very highly spoken of, and will no doubt prove a capable and satisfactory chairman.
