JAPAN WITHDRAWS OBJECTIONS
Willing that Hawaiian Annexation He Carried Ont as Planned. Japan has been removed as an element in the opposition to the mtiilication of the annexation treaty between the Hawaiian Islands and the United States. This result has been attained by the conclusion of an agreement between this Government and that of Japan, as represented by Minister Toru-lloshi, which, by practically settling the status of the Japanese in Hawaii, removes the only substantial difference that Ims existed between the two Governments. The correspondence between Minister Hoshi and the State Department has been directed to a satisfactory settlement of the status of the resident Japanese in Hawaii, and tins last point has been adjusted, so for as the executive branch is capable of acting independently, the agreement being reduced to the shape of a written memorandum. It is understood to l>e a recognition of the rights of the Japanese in Hawaii to claim equal rights with the Japanese in the United States after the taking effect of the treaty with Japan proclaimed in 1895,
