Of Interest to Stock Raisers.

J. F. Plummer, traveling agent for Root, Norton & Co , live stock commission merchants at the Union Stock Yards, [Chicago, was in Rensselaer and the surrounding country several days last Week, in the interest of his firm. Mr. Plum - mer wants to work up a good permanent business for his firm in this county, and if we are correctly informed as to his reception among our stock raisers and stock dealers, he is likely to do so. Of course, the first consideration for farmers and dealers is to know that the commission merchants they ship to are honest and reliable. On this point the references Mr. Plummer carries with him are sufficient we should suppose to satisfy the most cautious of shippers. They refer especially, to the Live' Stock National Bank, of the Stock Yards, an institution which, as probably most of the stockmen of our county know, does the great bulk of the financial business at the yards. Mr. Plummer has several letters of endorsement from this bank, of undoubted gdnuiness, but to be fully assured in the matter, we wrote direct to the bank, and received this reply on the printed letter head of the bank. LIVE STOCK NATIONAL BANK Chicago, 111., Jan. 18, 1898. G. E. Marshall, Rensselaer, Ind.
