’Tis No Joke.
The editor of the War renin dependent arises to his feet expression to the following truism: “The newspaper field is wide and full of thorns and roses. If you roast the ungodly the preacher smiles. If you roast the preacher the ungodly smiles, If you roast the saloon man the tee-totaler smiles, and when you roast the teetotaler the saloon keeper smiles sets ’em up. If you swear you are a very wicked man, if you pray you area hypocrite. If you have an opinion you get cussed, if you don’t you are a nonentity. The preacher knows one thing, the sinner knows another; but the journalist is supposed to know everything. He is the best man and the worst man in the community.
