The Benton County Lion Hunter Murdered.
Fowler Review: Ira Arms, Jr., who will be remembered by many of the old residents of this county in connection wiXh the capture of the famous “Benton county lion” was murdered in the forest near Esmerelda, Florida, Dec. 22. He had been shot and his body dragged a mile and a half through the woods to where it was found and there it had been covered with brush and set on fire. The murderers were traced to their homes and placed under guard. It is claimed that the murder was the result of political troubles. Arms formerly lived in Fountain county, and went to Florida in 1884, where he was engaged extensively in fruit raising.
