Rash to the Klondike.
The railroads are confidently expecting a big rush Of travel to the Klondike in the spring. It is estimated that fully 100,000 people will attempt to reach the gold fields as soon as the winter is over, and with a desire to turn a nimble penny at every opportunity trunk lines are beginning to prepare for the expected rush. One of the first in the field is the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, which will on Tuesday, Dec. 21, begin the running of the through tourist car from New York City to San Francisco without change by way of Philadelphia, Washington, Parkersburg and Cincinnati, reaching St. Louis Wednesday evening, Texarkana Thursday afternoon, El Paso, Tex.,. Friday evening and San Francisco Sunday morning. This service is in addition to the one provided by the Baltimore nnd Ohio Railroad from Pittsburg by way of Cincinnati and the Illinois Central to New Orleans and the Southern Pacific through to the coast, the Pittsburg ear leaving every Wednesday. The New York ear on its return leaves San Francisco Monday evoning and the Pittsburg car leaves on Thursday.
