One Year Old Today.

From Friday’s Daily. Today begins the second volume of the Evening Republican, Rensselaer’s first and only daily newspaper. The first number was issued Dee. 24th. IS9G. It is needless to say that there is more work than wealth in publishing a daily in a town the size of Rensselaer, especially one in such close touch with the great western metropolis, which thus limits our field to strictly local matters. We have worked hard and faithful!} 7 to give our people a good local paper however, and while its patronage has not been what we wished and hoped for, nor as we believe, what it deserved to' be, still it has been sufficient to not only keep the paper aliye but to place it now upon a firm footing. To those who have given the daily their patronage during this first year of its existence we extend our most grateful thanks, and ask for its continuance during the year to come, and promising at the same time, that there will be no deterioration in its columns as a thorough gleaner in the field of local news.
