The City Council.

The council had their regular meeting, Monday night. G. A. Strickfaden was granted a retail liquor license for one year, paying therefor the sum of $250. John Oocn and about 12 others 'petitioned for a street and road to be opened in the range line, beginning at Clark street, across the street from Capt. Marshall’s residence. and extending north a half mile, to James Matheson’s place. Half of this street if opened will be in the city and half beyond the limits. It will probably be opened and will be a great convenience to many people. The electrio light engineer is directed to out off the lights of consumers who do not pay by the 15th of the month, after their bills become due. The contractor for the water works was allowed SIOO extra for setting the new boilerat the station. The city’s receipts from electrio lights for October were $477.48, and expenses $341.10. its for November will be considerably more, as various October bills were not paid until November. The chief of th# fire company is allowed $1 per month for making reports. The company is also to nominate its own officers, and all fines collected from firemen for failure to attend meetings are to be turned into the general fund of the company. Some action was had regarding a special ordinance, to provide for issuing bonds tor SIO,OOO, as the first payment on the water works. The night watch was directed to watch out and see how many persons were using all night lights and how many lamps each were using.
