WHEATFIELD. The three I R. R. Co. is putting on a new roof and otherwise repairing their depot at this place. Sam Richards cut his foot quite bad while chopping wood one day last week. Alf, Tilton’s little boy got two fingers cut off last Thursday while playing with a sharp ax. John Graves received word Tuesday morning that his brother living at Dyer was very sick and not expected to live. John left for there Wednesday morning. Mrs. Nelson Hays, a former resi dent of this place, but now of Chicago Heights, is visiting relatives and friends here this week. Mrs. John East has been on the sick list list for a few days. Dr. Scliwier and Miss Frances Tilton were married last Thursday evening at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. 11. Tilton. Both of the parties are well known here and all unite in wishing them a prosperous life. “Dock came down handsome in the way of cigars. Henry Schwier of Logansport attended his brother’s wedding here last week. Chip Fields of Denham, Ind., is visiting his mother, Mrs. E. W. Phelps at this place. E. Bixman of Lowell was in town last Monday. L. H. Hamilton of Rensselaer was a Wheatfield visitor Tuesday. Preparations are being made for a Christmas tree to be held at the M. E. church Christmas eve * * *
NORTH BARKLEY. Mrs. B. F. Hardesty who has been sick for the past week is recovering rapidly. A. Benjamin Franklin box social will be given at North Lawn school house Thursday evening Dec. 23. Every body invited. Dan McGuire and Charley Street have returned from their trip to N. Dakota. Any one desiring information regarding the gold fields of the Yukon district would do well to call on or address Mr. William Camp, Valma, Ind. Mrs. Mary Decrow and son Leedy of Remington are visiting the former’s sister Mrs, John Kneadler, Quite a large crowd attended services at North Lawn school house Sunday evening. Bro. Owens of Gillam delivered an excellent discourse.
Miss Eva Meitzler of Rensselaer is the guest of her mother Mrs. L. B. lewitt. Mr. Wyles of near Pleasant Grove was in this vicinity Saturday. James Stevens night Capt. of dredge No. 2, has resigned his position and will make his future home in Hercher 111. Edward Trahani will fill the vacancy. Mrs. Landon Beedy received a telegram Saturday stating the death of her little granddaughter, Gertrude Beedy. of Blue Island, 111. The rag sewing and social given at the home of John Kneadler last Saturday afternoon and evening was a most pleasant and enjoyable affair. The number present far exceeded expectation, instrumental and vocal music was furnished by various persons of the neighborhood.
Mr. Kimble and family have moved to their new residence in Gillam Tp, this week. The four children of Samuel Price are sick with scarlet fever. Rev. Daniel Barker of Union Tp., died last Friday morning at the age of a little over 60 years. Funera
was held at I o’clock Saturday at the Brushwood church. Interment at the Prater cemetery. He leaves a widow and eight children to mourn his sad loss. Lizzie Brown daughter of John Brown of Union Tp., is reported sick. Protracted meeting is still in progress at the Brushwood chapel with a large attendance and a good success. j John Lesh and family of Parr, visited Elias Arnold’s of near Black- j ford Sunday. Levi Renicker and wife of Rensselaer, were the guests of Mr. Kimble and family Sunday. The mail failed to come to Blackford Tuesday. It was supposed it went to Valma.
