Sunday School Column
Conducted by w. O. SMALLEY, REMINGTON, INDIANA. How many Banner Townships can we report next year? We ought to have several. This means that every Township must do the following five things. Ist. Must have a Township organization, we all have that. 2nd. One Convention or more each year. That is very easy to do. 3rd. Every school an.everygreen school. 4th. A statistical report from every school, another easy thing to do. sth. A contribution from every school for State and County work. All of the above things are very easy for a live Township president to do except perhaps keeping the schools evergreen. But if we have a school that will close up for the winter let us get the whole school into a Home Dept. That allows us to report it an evergreen school. It is a good thing too —not as good as the school would be but a great deal better than nothing at all. Brother Townships Presidents let try to make our Township a Banner. Up goes our and .we feel certain right now of floating the Banner in Carpenter before our next County Convention. Fountain and Wayne counties both have double Banners, this indicates a very high state of organization. Jasper is not very far behind with these counties except in number of schools. Fountain has seventy schools, and Wayne sixtysix.
That all may know just who the President and Secretary of the various Townships are we give below a list. The first name in each case is President. Wheatfield, D. Clarke, Mrs. J. M. Helmick. Keener, Jos. Tyler, F. M. Hadley. Kankakee, H. Amsler, Jesse White. Gillarn, G. W, Houser, Mollie Logan. Hanging Grove, Plielix Parker, Jesse Arnot. Milroy, Worth Farmer, Lizzie KendallMarion, Mrs. E. K. Foltz, Mrs. Amanda Warren. Union, Win. Rlankenbaker, Pearl Hume. Jordan, Frank Duvall, G. Garrison. Carpenter, W. C. Smalley, Myrtie Beal. Newton, Jas. Yeoman, Blanch Miller. Barkley, Mrs. Ed. Parkinson, Dora English. Walker, O. P. Kennedy, Lillie Gilbranson. Onr next Sunday’s Lesson will be taught by many teachers with a more tender feeling than has been called forth by any Lesson in a long time. We are all very familiar with Paul from our long study of him and to think we are to close up that active, earnest, aealous life in our lesson for next Sunday makes us feel truly rever-
ent. The Golden Text —“I have have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” ought to certainly stimulate every Christian to do more and better work. When we think ; of his many discouragements, his | persecutions, surely our own trials should seem easier to bear. Now I as he looks death in the face and ! says “The Lord shall deliver me j from every evil work and will pre- ! serve me unto his Heavenly Kingdom to whom be glory forever and forever, ahmen” there is such a supreme trust in God which al- | ways says He doeth all things well. J A short time after this his head j fell before the executioner’s sword j some where on the Ostian Road, | and a faithful servant of God went home.
