The Firemen Will Be Pacified.

The respective committees of the City Council and the Fire Company met Tuesday night and, so far .as the committee had power, they adjusted the differences between the council and the company, in a very satisfactory manner. The council committee admitted that in the pressure of their business they had failed to give the firemen the consideration they were entitled to, in several respects, but it was all done without any intention of ignoring the just rights of the firemen. The latter’s committee expressed themselves as fully satisfied with the explanation. On the part of the fire company, however, they made the request that the council allow the chief of the fire company $25. for making reports and attending council meetings, and that the city fire marshal should be appointed by the recommendation of the fire company. These very reasonable requests were endorsed by the council’s committee and will be acted upon the by Council at their meeting Monday nigh t. There is probably no doubt at all that the council and fire company will both heartily agree to this equitable and honorable settlement of this matter, and that everything will go on as before.
