Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 27, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 7 December 1897 — The Waterworks Work. [ARTICLE]
The Waterworks Work.
The power house is approaching completion; the putting on of a portion of the slate roof being all that remains to do. It will make a fine substantial looking structure. The brick smoke stack will also make a fine appearance. It is now
finished - and is 70 feet high. Drilling on the big well is again underway, after another week’s delay, from a break-down. Its depth does not yet greatly exceed 130 feet. The pipe-laying is pretty much all done, except the 1500 or 1600 feet of 10 in. pipe on Washington street and about 600 feet in Newton’s Addition. As yet nothing has been done on the water tower except the foundations.
