At Napanee, Ont., Chief Justice Meredith sentenced John F. Troy to be hanged Jan. 14 for the murder of Angus McLeod. The Canadian Government has forwarded to Washington a communication in which is noted a refusal to stop pelagic sailing for one year, as requested by the United States. Mrs. John Biddulph Martin, formerly .Victoria Woodhull, is preparing, it is said, to leave England shortly for America, where, according to rumor, she will wed a wealthy Westerner.
