Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 25, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 30 November 1897 — Still Have a Fire Company. [ARTICLE]
Still Have a Fire Company.
The resignation of the Rensselaer fire company, which was to have taken effect last Wednesday night, is still held in abeyance and the prospects are favorable for its complete withdrawal. The mayor and most of the members/ of the council freely admit the justice of the firemen’s contention, and are willing to make all reasonable amends. A member of the council’s fire committee met with the firemen Wednesday, and after an amicable discussion a meeting between the whole fire committee, and a special committee of the fire company will soon be held, at which it is believed everything can be satisfactorily arranged, and matters again go on as before.
