Public School Items.

Recently an effort has been made to have the mothers of our pupils visit school and observe the children in their regular work. The first and second year teachers have issued special invitations to their patrons to be present at a stated time. More than fifty visitors have responded to these invitations. The teachers in the grades will issue similar invitations soon, and it is very much desired that every one receiving such an invitation will make it a point to spend a few hours in the school room. Such visits are helpful to pupils, teachers and patrons. Arrangements are being made for having a series of talks given to the High School by representa-1 live citizens of our city. Invitations will be extended to ministers, doctors, lawyers and others. These talks will be given on Wednesday morning of each week at the time occupied on other days of the week by music, that is from 8:45 to 9:05. The first talk will be given on Weidnesday of next week. The grades devoted Wednesday afternoon to literary exercises. The most of the exercises were especially adapted to Thanksgiving time, but in Miss Mills’ room Riley Day was observed. All of the teachers expect to remain in Rensselaer during the Thanksgiving vacation. Schools were closed Wednesday evening, for the Thanksgiving vacation, and work will not be resumed until Monday following.
