It Didn’t Work.

A Western newspaper inaugurated a new system of reporting. Every item was credited to the person furnishing it. For instance: If John Jones was arrested for horse stealing, the paragraph announcing the fact would be preceded by “Given us by “Marshal Johnson.” Other items were: “Marshal Johnson is a liar,” furnished us by John Jones. “Councilman Brown was drunk last night,” furnished us by the city solicitor. This method was practiced about two weeks, when the following appeared: “We have two black eyes,” furnished by the general public. The editor was afterward known to express his thorough belief in “impersonal journalism.”

Eld. N. H. Shepherd of South Bend, Ind., will hold a series of meetings at the Christian church commencing Sunday Nov. 28: Subjects—Sunday 10:45 a. m. “The Greatest Thing in the World.” Sunday 7:30 p. m. “Creations Masterpiece.” Monday, “Price of a Christian.” Tuesday, “How to Obtain Truth.” Wednesday, “Proof of Christ’s Divinity.” Thursday, “What think ye of Christ.” Friday, “Why Christ had to die.” Saturday, “Personal Account to God.” .

A typical “old she wolf" like unto the one that “old Gineral Putnam” of revolutionary times, erawled into a hole after, has been ravaging the country southwest from Rensselaer for some time. He gobbled the gobblers and hogged the hogs and occasionally wooled a sheep. Will Hoover’s big dog got after it, some days ago, and the wolf chased the dog clear out of the township. But fate finally overtook the rapacious beast, and yesterday morning Gus Larsh, Mort Richey and Lan and Henry Shafer got after it on horses, out on the old Henry Adams place, and got it surrounded and young Ritchey killed it with a shot gun.
