Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 23, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 23 November 1897 — The Glass Cost $90. [ARTICLE]
The Glass Cost $90.
A merchant in Frankfort dipped a lump of coal in gold sizing and having labeled “Nugget from Klondike value §9,000” placed it in his show window and was greatly pleased with his ingenuity. The next morning he found his window smashed and the lump of gilded coal gone. It cost him S9O to replace the plate glass. He thinks now that a newspaper ad would have done him more good «nd not have cost him so much. The real live and successful business man is not long in getting enough fake advertising methods and therefore relies implicitly upon the newspaper.
