The executive committee of the county Sunday School Association at a recent meeting decided to edit a part of a column in the Republican to acquaint the people generally with the work that is being done over the country. We exto publish accounts of all Township conventions and Sunday School meetings with other news of interest to Sunday School workers. All Township Presidents are requested to send any items of interest they desire published to the undersigned who for the present has been appointed editor. The officers of the county are Pres. C. W. Faris,-.Medaryville Ind. Vice Pres. B. D. Comer Rensselaer Ind. Sect’y. W. C. Smalley Remington Ind. Asst Secty, Mrs. Mamie Williams Porter, Rensselaer Ind. Treas. Chas Kelley, Rensselaer. Supt. H. The Keener Township Association held their fall convention Sat. Nov. 13th. It was a very interesting meeting and very well attended. Several very important subjects were ably discussed. Pres. Faris and wife and the undersigned were present from a distance and we enjoyed the exercises very much. Judging from the interest taken in this convention we bespeak a bright future for the Keener Township Ass’n. Very few people realize how much work there is connected with our County Association. We have succeeded in making our County a Banner County and we hope to have several Banner Townships to report next year, we feel rewarded however for the work done. We know that faithfulness of service can only come from faithfulness of heart. If a man’s heart is in his work he will not work simply for the reward he is to get. His first thought will be to do well the work given him to do. It is the Christian who is not constantly thinking of the reward of Heaven or of the reward of earth to -whom-the world looks for faithful service.
The Gillam Township Association held its Semi-annual Convention Sunday Nov. 14th. There was a good attendance notwithstanding the inclement weather. It rained most of the forenoon but afternoon the teams began to come from every direction and soon the house was filled. Pres. G. W. Houser opened the meeting in his usual pleasant manner. The program was unusually interesting and some very practical talks were given. The music was very good. West Vernon school deserves special mention in that direction. A very significant fact about this convention was the hearty co-operation that existed. Surely these people of Gillam realize how good it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. This Township is in the front line and with teachers meetings and Home Dept, we feel sure it will stay there just as long as they hold such a splendid set of officers as they now have. W. C.
