New Quail Law in Indiana.
The new quail law, which went into effect November 10, 1897, prohibits shooting of quail for the market. It fixes a fine of $1 for each quail sold or offered for sale or sent out of the state. Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to pursue or kill within this state any quail, ruffed grouse or pinnated grouse for purposes of sale, barter, traffic or removal from the state, or to sell, barter, keep, expose or offer for sale or remove from this state any quail, ruffed grouse or pinnated grouse caught or killed in the state of Indiana. Section 2. Whoever shall violate any of the provisions of section 1 of this act shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in the sum of $1 for every quail, ruffed grouse or pinnated grouse so unlawfully pursued, killed, sold, kept, exposed or offered for sale, or removed from this state.
