McCOYSBURG.
Mrs. J. L. McComb and Mrs. R. P. Moore and two children of Fairmount, arrived last Friday evening and visited Mr. and Mrs. McCoy here. They returned home Tuesday. Jake McDonald was in town Monday offering big money for turkeys. A protracted meeting is being held at Osborne. Brother Brady, our minister, has promised us a protracted effort some, time this winter. Wash Cook's wife, who has been
seriously ill with malaria, is reported much better and strong hopes are now entertained for a complete recovery. The church here will give a Thanksgiving Supper about the 24th or 25th inst. It will be a grand affair where plenty .of. good ’‘necessities’' w/11! be handled promiscuously. The proceeds will be given to the C. E. society. We hope to see a large delegation from the Rensselaer Christian Endeavor present. Everybody- is invited. The bi-monthly examination in the school was held last Thursday and Friday. Interest in The Literature Society is rapidly increasing. Quite a number now belong and are reading the last lesson in “The Courtship of Miles Standish,” •' Mr. McCoy received three loads of shelled corn which he intends feeding to his large cattle.
