The total attendance at the Tennessee centennial exposition was 1,682,305. The indebtedness is only $36,000, while the property of the exjiosition company is valued at far more than this sum, and there are uncollected assets amounting to $39,009. The “F. F. V.” through vestibule train from Cincinnati to New York on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad plunged into the Rivanna river about three miles east of Charlottesville, Va. Four people were killed outright and a large number badly injured. The accident was caused by spreading rails. A fatal shooting took place at Junction City, Ky., in which an old feud was ended and both the participants died within a minute of each other. Some years ago J. O. Wright shot J. C. Blackerty, while assisting oflicers to arrest him. The trouble was renewed a- recent afternoon. Wright fired on Blackerty, who returned the shots. Both men fell mortally wounded and both died before the smoke of their pistols had disappeared.
